Education for Photographers

Dance Photography, From the Inside Out

With more than 15 years in the professional dance industry, I bring a dancer’s understanding into the photographic process. This education is designed to help photographers work more confidently with dancers, recognize real technique, and capture movement with intention rather than chance.

Beyond understanding dance itself, I also teach how to light and pose dancers effectively, choose camera angles that enhance lines and shapes, and build sets that support the concept. We’ll cover the full workflow, from planning and behind-the-scenes setup to editing choices and final image delivery, so you can approach dance photography with clarity, consistency, and purpose.

Workshop

Learn the foundations of dance photography in a hands-on workshop with a ballet dancer and a model dancer, covering lighting, posing, and editing from start to finish.

One-on-One Mentorship

Individual teaching sessions are designed for photographers who want a real, behind-the-scenes look at how I approach a dance photoshoot from start to finish. These one-on-one classes take place in my studio during an actual session, allowing you to observe and learn in a live working environment.

You’ll see how I prepare before the shoot, choose and use gear, set up lighting, direct and pose dancers, and communicate clearly to bring out strong, natural movement. We’ll also cover what happens after the shoot, including image selection, editing decisions, and final delivery.

This is a hands-on learning experience built around transparency, process, and practical knowledge you can immediately apply to your own work.
